SPC Veterinary Technology Program Celebrates a Year of Growth, Achievement, and Global Learning
As another academic year comes to a close, the St. Petersburg College Veterinary Technology Program is proud to reflect on a year marked by exceptional student achievement, program growth, and meaningful learning experiences that continue to prepare the next generation of veterinary professionals.
This year, the program celebrated a major milestone with more than 70 graduates completing their journey through both our campus-based and distance education pathways. These graduates represent a dedicated and talented group of future veterinary technicians who have demonstrated perseverance, compassion, and commitment to excellence in animal healthcare.
Student success continues to be a hallmark of the SPC Veterinary Technology Program. Our graduates achieved Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) pass rates exceeding 85%, a strong reflection of the quality education and support provided by our faculty and staff. Particularly noteworthy is the outstanding performance of our distance education students, who achieved a 100% VTNE pass rate for the second consecutive year. This remarkable accomplishment highlights the effectiveness of SPC’s distance learning model and the determination of students balancing education with professional and personal responsibilities.
The program also maintained student success rates above 80%, further demonstrating our commitment to student engagement, retention, and achievement. Through innovative teaching methods, hands-on laboratory experiences, and supportive mentoring, SPC continues to create an environment where students thrive.
Beyond the classroom and clinic, students had opportunities to broaden their educational experiences through two exceptional study abroad programs. This year, students traveled to Costa Rica, where they gained firsthand exposure to international veterinary medicine, conservation efforts, and animal care in diverse settings. Students also participated in a unique educational experience in Ireland, expanding their understanding of veterinary practices, agriculture, and global perspectives on animal health and welfare.
These international experiences not only strengthen clinical and professional skills but also foster cultural awareness and broaden perspectives—qualities increasingly important in today’s veterinary profession.
As we celebrate the accomplishments of this year, we also recognize the faculty, staff, clinical partners, alumni, and supporters who make these successes possible. Their dedication helps shape students into skilled, compassionate professionals prepared to make meaningful contributions to veterinary medicine.
The SPC Veterinary Technology Program looks forward to building on this momentum and continuing to provide exceptional educational opportunities for students both locally and around the world.
Congratulations to our graduates and to the entire SPC Veterinary Technology community on another extraordinary year.
