June 2026
President’s Message
Dear Pinellas Colleagues, happy summer as we roll into June. It is a month filled with quite a number of holidays and observances that likely resonate with each of you in your own way. Whether you take time for Father’s Day, or to recognize the impact of mental health for men. If you celebrate Pride month and our incredibly diverse coworkers, friends and family members by showing them your support and love. Of course Juneteenth marks an important historical changing point in our country’s history. For our profession, Pet Appreciation Week and Animal Rights Week may resonate with your passion for practicing as a veterinarian. You may take the time to reflect on those in your circle affected by PTSD, Alzheimer’s disease, Eating disorders or National Cancer Survivors Month and National Black Family Cancer Awareness Week to give thanks for those still with us, and remember those who aren’t. If you have been touched by those personally, please remember you aren’t alone, and there is support here among your colleagues and professional resources available if you need.
It seems as if every day, week, or month has something special about it to remind us to pause and find what matters to us. To find what we have in common with others, and to remember we are all part of an amazing community, family, profession, country and world. We are all part of something bigger than ourselves and have an impact in those lives around us with our actions and efforts. I hope you each find something this month that recognizes your value and those you love and support. If you haven’t found the one that speaks to you, please feel free to celebrate June 1st with me with National Say Something Nice Day as I make the world a better place, with one small kindness after another. Stay safe, stay well, and thank you for being part of our family and profession.
